Let’s talk about favorite points and geocaching. I recently watched a YouTube video by a fellow geocacher which was about favorite points and what they mean. It really got me thinking about what they are for and why we should or shouldn’t award them. According to Geocaching.com, “Geocaching Favorite points are a simple way to track and share the geocaches that you enjoyed the most.” They are available only for Premium members to give. Water’s Edge: A Virtual Geocache
When you think of a virtual geocache, you most often think of something that’s quick and easy to find. Maybe you just need to take a picture or email the cache owner the answer to a simple question that can be found at ground zero. You usually don’t think of a 3.5 terrain multi stage virtual. My Top 30 Favorite (active) Geocaches
Favorite points. Geocachers are granted one favorite point per every ten finds. Do you award them as they are intended? Or are you like me and have hundreds stockpiled? Like I’m waiting for that cache find that was just a bit better than all the others. I don’t know why I have so many saved up, other than the fact that I really don’t find that many that are truly spectacular and worthy, in my opinion.
